The Importance of Play
Play is an essential part of a child’s
development and has been shown to be
an essential part of early learning. Playing is
one of the many ways young children learn and
discover new things.
The Canadian Society for Information Children is a non-profit organization and a registered charity, founded in 1979. We provide information, support and referrals to parents and caregivers related to the care and well-being of families with children 12 years and under. Our Parent Coach-Educators answer all Helpline calls; for areas outside of our area of expertise, we provide parents with referrals to other community organizations or resources related to the concern.

Young children often whine to get attention
from the parents. Sometimes it is not a
concious strategy on the part of child but rather
a learned behaviour from the parents. Usually
whinining occurs because the child is not getting
what they want right away. There are effective and
non-effective ways of getting the child to respond in
a more positive way. Get the tips here!
