“If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to trust, share their feelings, and grow.” – Alfie Kohn

Who is Information Children?

The Canadian Society for Information Children is a non-profit organization and a registered charity, founded in 1979. We provide information, support and referrals to parents and caregivers related to the care and well-being of families with children 12 years and under. Our Parent Coach-Educators answer all Helpline calls; for areas outside of our area of expertise, we provide parents with referrals to other community organizations or resources related to the concern.

  • Happy Holidays!

Information Children wishes you and your families
a safe, warm and happy holidays!

  • 10 Minutes of Quality Time

Spending quality time with our children is so
important because it strengthens our bonds
with them, supports their development and
satisfies their need to connect with us.
Long days at work or around the home can
leave us feeling exhausted, and too drained
to engage in long periods of play activity…..
But sometimes, even spending 10 minutes
a day of undivided time with your child can
    reap potential benefits.

  • What is your Parenting Mindset?

“If parents want to give their children a gift,
the best thing they can do is to teach their
children to love challenges, be intrigued by
mistakes, enjoy effort, and keep on learning.
That way, their children don’t have to be slaves
of praise, they will have a lifelong way to build
    and repair their own confidence”
